Domains and DNS
See each domain’s status, copy the records and request verification from your phone.
Statuses
| In the API | In the app | What it means |
|---|---|---|
not_started | Not started | The domain was added, but verification hasn’t been requested. |
pending | Pending | Resend is looking for the records. |
verified | Verified | Ready to send. |
partially_verified | Partial | One capability (sending or receiving), or one of the sending records, verified and the other didn’t. |
partially_failed | Partial | Verified, but sending or receiving failed. |
failed | Failed | Resend didn’t find the records within 72 hours. |
temporary_failure | Temporary failure | A previously verified domain stopped answering. Resend keeps checking for 72 hours before marking it failed. |
Turn on domain.updated in More › Alerts to know when the status changes.
DNS records
Tap a domain to see its DNS records. The app shows exactly what Resend asks for on that domain: type, name, value, priority (for MX) and each record’s status.
- SPF: a TXT listing the authorized servers and an MX that receives bounces and complaints, usually on the
sendsubdomain. - DKIM: a TXT with the public key, at
resend._domainkey. - DMARC: recommended by Resend, not required to verify.
- Receiving: an extra MX, if the domain receives email.
Newer domains may get CNAMEs instead of the SPF TXT/MX pair. Always follow what the screen shows.
Copy values
Each record has two buttons: copy name and copy value. Paste into your DNS provider exactly as copied, with no extra quotes or spaces.
Some DNS providers append the domain to the name. If yours does, paste only the part before the domain.
Verify now
After creating the records, tap Verify now. Resend checks DNS and the status updates on its own. If it failed, the button becomes Verify again.
The same screen lets you turn open and click tracking on or off and delete the domain. Deleting makes sends from that domain fail right away. The records stay at your provider.
Common problems
- It takes time. It usually verifies in about 15 minutes, but propagation can take up to 72 hours.
- Record in the wrong place. SPF records go on the subdomain shown (e.g.
send), not the root. - Cloudflare proxy. Set the records to “DNS only”.
- CNAME conflict. A CNAME can’t share a name with an A, TXT or MX record.
- DNS split across providers. Create the records at the provider that serves your nameservers.
- MX region. The region in the MX value must match the domain’s region.
